Chevron Boardwalk at the White Kitchen Preserve - Intersection of 1-90 and 90, Slidel Ph: 225-338-1040 The focal point of the boardwalk is a stand of tall cypress where bald eagles have nested for more than 80 years.

Fontainbleau State Park 12 mi. SE on US 190, Covington, LA 70433, 504-624-4443, A live oak alley becomes the entrance to the 2,700 acre state park on Lake Ponchartrain. The ruins of a plantation brickyard and sugar mill are on the grounds.

Lake Ramsey Savannah Wildlife Management Area 7 miles NW of Covington, 225-765-2360, Longleaf pine, flatwood savannah. Managed to restore ecosystem. Hiking, hunting, birding and fishing.

Fairview-Riverside State Park - Madisonville (985)845-3318 (888)677-3247 A shady bend of the Tchefuncta River features a boat dock, fishing pier, canoeing and water skiing, picnic facilities, a historic mansion (now a mission), and a campground nestled beneath a canopy of cool piney woods and gigantic live oaks

Covington Country Club - 18 Hole par 71 golf course for all levels of golfers. Also available are 6 tennis courts, pool and banquet facilities. This is a private facility and can be accessed with a sponsor. Open Tuesday through Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to dusk. Located at 200 Country Club Drive.
